What is Puzzle Chess?
Cobble Hill Puzzle Chess is a 2-player, fast-paced game using 100-piece puzzles (38-piece frame, 64-piece interior) where players compete to complete the puzzle using a chess timer. Players take turns placing one piece, connecting it to the existing structure, and hitting the timer. The player with the most time left wins.Â
Core Rules for Cobble Hill Puzzle Chess:
- Setup:Â Assemble the 38-piece frame together first, then set a timer (e.g., app "Chess Clock").
- Gameplay:Â Players take turns placing a single piece at a time, ensuring it connects to the main puzzle.
- Timing: Players must tap the timer (specifically their own side) after placing a piece to start the opponent’s clock.
- Winning:Â The player with the most time remaining on their clock after the final piece is placed wins.
- Restrictions:Â You may only touch one piece at a time. You cannot have free-standing pieces; they must be connected to the main body.
- Turn-taking:Â The game continues until all 64 inner pieces are placed.
Regulations:

- Players may not distract other teams or purposefully create an environment of distraction.
- Players are restricted to their own table and may not approach another table during the competition, nor shall they be allowed to study an opposing team's puzzle.
